Command Con in November 2012 in St Louis

Well St Louis area - anyway.  This is the one where I held my BKC game last year. Fun small con going over 3 days. New venue, new website...new attitude?  Should be a good time. I may be able to stop by on Friday for about 2 hours and that's it.

Very bummed, but this has been how this school year has been this year. Once it started our schedules are crazy and I'm barely able to squeeze any time in for hobby stuff. Frankly, having a hard time doing anything besides the "maintaining life" stuff.

Go check it out and sign up to play some minis in November:

Warmaster Pics from Barracks Battles

I'd never seen a Warmaster game played live. Playing Blitzkrieg Commander II, I really like the system and enjoy the thought of playing Warmaster (rather play ancients though...oh too bad, they're closed and books run $50+ now.) Anyway, fun seeing it. Their castle is the fortress from Flames of War, but painted black and gray - nice work. Oh, apparently the desert fortress is also cancelled.

I see a trend. Anyway:
Game was put on by Brian Gill -

Barracks Battles Sunday Action

Just a short video of the action that took place on Sunday afternoon at DieCon, Barracks Battles. I only was able to play in Adam's General Quarters 3 WWII naval game. Great miniatures and tremendous group of guys to play with and against:
Japanese:
James, Dave, and Kevin
US
John, Joe, and me
GM
Adam

US was killed - I messed up with my torpedo laying, almost took out one of our own ships. Didn't, but the court of inquiry will be calling me in.

Interesting, seeing some of the things that Naval Thunder does similarly, but abstracted, to GQ3. This is why it's fun to play other systems to see the evolution of gaming. I really like Adam's basing. He used some aluminum found at the hardware store that has a texture to it - like what screen doors in the US have on them - paint and highlight. Perfect texture for the ocean. If I paint anymore, I will use this method.  Nice looking GHQ 1/2400 ships.

Fwd: BKC II Game & Geekway

Took a break from the Drydock to play this table my 9yr old setup. Will provide a more detailed AAR when it's finished. I'm through two turns and the US has already destroyed a German reclaimed R35 platoon.

The Germans had "surprised" the US platoon that was going to attack from behind a hill. However, failed command rolls left the R35s in the open.

The next turn saw a rain of bazooka and Sherman fire take em down. The Co had to command them because both platoons had failed their initial command rolls.

My other hobby stuff was my work on getting the volunteers/potentials lined up for Geekway 2012. This will take up a bit more time as we move deeper into April and May.
BMHGA is asking for GMs for Barracks Battles at Die-Con. I would love to, but don't know, w Geekway stuff if I can make that happen.
