Friend's KickStarter Kicks It!

My friend Chris' game, Dungeon Roll, that was on KickStarter, hit $250,070!  I think the original goal was 15,000 or 20,000.  This kickstarter is being shown as a way of creating a successful campaign.

I'm very happy for him.  And thank you to those of my readers that supported it.

I need to get better at this, but I also want to welcome new subscribers:

Dungeon Roll is ROLLING - Just 13 Days Left

Man, it's 597% funded and I think 900 more people backed since yesterday.  We've now earned 7 more player characters.  And they're thinking of more stuff to add.  It's cool because it's my friend's first published game.

Another Tactial Game

My friend Dave is very excited about a new game being kickstarted called War Stories.  It's been in development for a few years (Dave's followed them for most of the time.) and it can involve either miniatures or blocks.  The miniatures aspect explains why Dave is so excited about it.

Anyway, I've not decided on it yet.  They have a game developer's blog on Board Game Geek.  And of course, you can read about it on their War Stories Kickstarter page.

Here's a brief explanation of it:
In War Stories, you control squads of soldiers and vehicles battling against one or more opponents. Our first two War Stories releases, Red Storm and Liberty Road, depict Soviet and American battles against the Nazis during World War 2. Each scenario is contested over a realistic period map, with each side receiving unique and often secret objectives for the engagement. You can augment your starting forces with additional units or a wide variety of special assets such as machine guns, bazookas, artillery, intelligence reports, mines and many more: dozens to choose from in total. Buy as much as you want, but each purchase costs you a victory point handicap, so spend wisely! Once the scenario begins your orders are executed quickly and resolving combat is just a simple card draw with no calculations whatsoever. Despite the game being fast-playing and easy-to-learn it is highly realistic and encourages real combat decisions in a tense fog of war. Nothing else on the market is like it.

I'm cash strapped right now and will wait to see the rules and more videos or explanation.  I sent an email to the developers and they said more info is coming.  I do like the box covers for some reason.

Quicksilver-Victorian Airship Racing Game Kickstarter

I've no affiliation to these guys except that they demoed at Geekway and then were at DieCon with an official booth. Looks to be a fun game and they seem to be a couple of focused guys that can make this game come together. Their company is split second games and their first outing is called Quicksilver, The Great Airship Race game.

It's definitely a boardgame so perhaps not quite the focus of most of my readers, but check it out and decide for yourself:
