Nerd or Geek - Scientific Findings?

Fun story and chart on some work a scientist did to determine finally the difference between Geek and Nerd.

I've always thought of the difference as Geek is a fan and a Nerd is someone crazy smart about a topic or topics.

Go read the article here and let me know, Which are you?

  1. I think it's hard to do a distinction between the two, the terms have evolved with Internet culture and are used synonymously often. I personally associate the term "geek" with interest in pop culture and the trivial on a broad scope, while a "nerd" is usually obsessed on a certain field. A nerd is someone who digs the Linux kernel for security flaws because he enjoys it and its FUN for him. A geek is someone who goes to hobby conventions wearing a funny hat. A true nerd is a rare breed and I don't count myself among them.
